The performance analysis of plastic pallet raw materials is as follows
Dec 22, 2021
At present, plastic pallets are mainly made of HDPE material, and different grades of HDPE have different characteristics. The unique property of HDPE is the proper combination of four basic variables: density, molecular weight, molecular weight distribution and additives. Different catalysts are used to produce tailor-made polymers with special properties. These variables combine to produce HDPE grades for different applications with the best balance of properties.
In the process of actual production and processing of plastic pallets, the quality of these main variables has an influence on each other. We know that ethylene is the main raw material of polyethylene, and a few other comonomers, such as 1-butene, 1-hexene or 1-octene, are also often used to improve polymer properties. For HDPE, the content of the above few monomers Generally not more than 1% -2%. The addition of comonomer slightly reduces the crystallinity of the polymer. This change is generally measured by density, which is linearly related to crystallinity.
In fact, the density of HDPE is different, and the plastic pallets made will have obvious differences in performance. Medium density polyethylene (MDPE) density range from 0.926 to 0.940g/CC. Other classifications sometimes classify MDPE as HDPE or LLDPE. Homopolymers have the highest density, highest stiffness, good permeability resistance and highest melting point.
Usually in the process of making plastic pallets, it is often necessary to add some additives to ensure the required performance. Specific uses require special formulations of additives, such as antioxidants added to prevent polymer degradation during processing and oxidation of the finished product during use. Antistatic additives are used in many packaging grades to reduce the adhesion of bottles or packaging to dust and dirt.
In addition, in order to ensure the production quality of plastic pallets, more attention should be paid to the packaging, storage and transportation of their raw materials. Usually, when storing HDPE materials, it is required to keep away from fire and heat insulation. The warehouse should be kept dry and tidy. And during transportation, it should be stored in a clean and dry covered carriage or cabin, and there should be no sharp objects such as iron nails.
